Our
family began a new holiday tradition this year...a Yule Ball. As in
the movie/book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, we
celebrated the return of the sun on the shortest day of the year -
winter solstice - on Friday, Dec. 22 with a special dinner and games
and a little bit of dancing.

On
Friday afternoon, we let the girls open their first Yule gift.

Each
girl got a new dress. Sandy and Amy discuss what they need to do to
prepare for the evening's festivities.

Katy
started the evening on the wrong foot by telling her sister she
looked dumb in her new Yule dress. Sandy was depressed all through
dinner. When Katy tried to apologize, Sandy questioned her sincerity
and thought that she was playing lip service. Lucky for Katy she
felt remorse for her actions and didn't face further sanctions by
her parents.

Our
chef, Jeremy, escaped the drama in the dinning room. The menu
included turkey, broccoli, mashed potatoes, fresh bread and a
decedent, seven layer chocolate cake.

The
girls loved planning our special evening.
